OKAY SO

Just finished recording the latest episode with Nikki, and it was so much more full of Cheech stories than any episode ever should be.

I usually get these things done in two days but since the weekend is coming up, I’m gonna post it on Monday, or Tuesday at the latest. SO LOOK FOR IT THEN.

SUSPENSE.

Continuing on in the battle of Summer JamZzZ, my submission today is MxPx’s “Party, My House, Be There” (live version).

A good summer jam, to me, is a song that no matter when you hear it, you are instantly transported to that great party or that awesome night out or that time at the beach with your friends, where everyone’s just hanging out and drinking cheap beer and having fun and being care-free, cos that’s what summer is all about! That’s what this song does for meeeee.

PLUS IT’S FUN TO SING ALONG TO.

I’m wearing flip-flops and jeans and I don’t even care.

Here at the HAWTLINE we’ve been all about Summer Jams with Celisse thinking this is some sort of “competition.” And with that she picks the (admittedly amazing) but OBVIOUS Loungin’ by LL Cool J. Yeah, mmhmmm, ok.

Today I’m going with a possibly forgotten group The Avalanches. All bluster and hype in the early 00’s they’ve fallen off the face of the earth because… they’ve fallen off the face of the earth. Seriously guys, 9 years with now follow-up album? ANYWAYS maybe it’s that “Welcome to Paradise” vocal sample at the beginning of the song but few songs ever evoke the warmth and laziness of summer, feeling equal parts 70’s tourism video, “Fantasy Island” and Spanish Resort background soung but Since I Left You is the ultimate relax with some friends in the back yard song, trading in your beers for some fruity cocktails and just having a good laugh.

Does the phrase “foaming pipesnake” sound REALLY dirty to anyone else?

Like, “oh yeah, TWIGBy. I want your pipesnake to foam all over me.”

That’s dirty.

This is a full on SUMMER JAM DECLARATION OF WAR. Yesterday, Twigz posted SUMMERTIME as his iconic summer jam, but bitch, please. He’s so wrong.

The ideal summer jam of the 90s is LL Cool J’s Loungin’ (Remix).

OH HELL YES. I know everytime I think of summer, I think of big pool parties with the bass bumpin’ and fly hunnies dripping chocolate sauce on their thighs, and dancing around in neon green outfits while singing backup to LL Cool J. Oh yeah.

This song takes me back to the days when MTV ruled, being 11 and having a crush on Simon Rex when he used to present from THE RAPIDS during MTV’s Beach House. Uh huh.

After you jam to the song, check out the video to be completely transported back to 1995, please and thank you: link.

OKAY ENJOY IT, JERKS.
